LAKE LUZERNE: Shirley M. Sherman (Planty), 73 years young, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2024 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Shirley, born on August 26, 1950, to the late Donald and Leona (Johnson) Planty, dedicated over 40 years of her life to the housekeeping department at the Holiday Inn of Lake George. Her commitment and dedication to her work resulted in her developing a loyal customer base, with many guests specifically requesting her services over the years.

During her leisure time, Shirley found joy in the comfort of her home, relishing her favorite beverages and solving puzzles. Known for her vibrant spirit, Shirley was the first one to hit the dance floor at the company Christmas party, earning her the affectionate title of the "Dancing Queen."

Besides her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her brother Jeffrey Planty and sisters Christine Swinton, Jane Gifford and Thelma Planty.

Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her sons Gary Sherman of Lake Luzerne, Casey Sherman of Queensbury, Jason Planty of Lake Luzerne and Bobby Sherman of Lake Luzerne; brothers Henry Planty of Lake Luzerne and Stanley Planty of Greenwich; special friends at the Holiday Inn including Courtney Baker; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 1pm – 3pm at the Holiday Inn of Lake George, NY.

Burial will take place this spring in Union Cemetery, North Creek, NY.
